Approximately 29 miles from Srinagar, the ruins of Awantipur, also known as Avantipura, were constructed by King Avantivarman, who established the Utpala Dynasty. They serve as a silent reminder of the Hindu dominion. The temples to Lord Shiva and Vishnu are representative of the exquisite Kashmiri architecture that was unique to that era. Despite being reduced to ruins over time, the temple continues to be a popular tourist destination. This location is well-liked for photography. On the road to Pahalgam, you might make a stop to see this location. Note: Access to the Avantipur ruins is contingent to the approval of the army. Note: For security considerations, the Avantipur Ruins may remain closed during the Amarnath Yatra.
